Celeb Talk: Kardashian Christmas Card.

So I'm adding a new type of post called Celeb Talk. Mostly because I saw this outrageous photo of the Kardashian family. First I can't lie... I watch the Kardashians. Yeah I'm embarrassed but we all have guilty pleasures so stop judging me. Now just because I watch doesn't mean that I think anyone should be famous for having a big butt or doing a sex tape. And I know I'm just feeding into the evil Kardashian fame machine by bothering to comment. That being said I couldn't sit by and not comment on this disturbing image. View discretion is advised.

I'm going to start with the obvious. Your probably asking "why is Kourtney dresses like a man?" Well kids that's an excellent question. One I'm not sure how to answer. Lets look at the facts:
Kourtney ( also how obnoxious is it that Kris loved her name with a "K" so much she decided to brand her  children?) Clearly isn't the brightest bulb in the tanning bed. Shes dating a guy who among other things:

• has clear anger management issues, 

•  punches walls and stuff money down innocent bar-tenders throats.

•  has regularly said degrading and rude comments to/about her family, particularly her sister.

•   to top it all off: dresses like Fred from Scooby-Doo. 

So her judgment is suspect-at best.

Now Kris has raised six lovely children who:
Have sex tapes
Have been arrested for DUI
Have anger issues
Are in relationships with sociopaths
Marry after knowing a person for a month
With that track record you'd think now was the time to reevaluate your parenting style. But not Kris, shes sticking to her guns.
You might have noticed the girl to the left of Kim ( you know, who's dressed as a lounge singer?). That would be her 13 year old sister. Now I ask you, what's wrong with this child's parents? What was her father thinking when she left the house ready for a saloon? 13 people! she's in the 7th grade! is that how a 7th grader should dress? You might say no but apparently the Kardashians grow up fast, Consider this picture:

It's 10PM, do you know where your 14 year old is?

It's like they just don't learn their lesson. This could easily be in Victoria Secret. This one is 14! Not even in high school! Now from what I've seen in the show the little ones are not as bad as their sisters, but judging from this picture I could be wrong.

Kris, look at your life, look at your choices. It seems you've created another monster.

Dee Says: Last Minute Christmas Gifts!!

Okay, time is of the essence.
I'm posting this 8 days before Christmas and if you are still have no idea what your getting everyone, you're probably freaking out. Well have no fear. I've come to save the day. 
So I already posted about some homemade gifts which are groovy, but right now I'm going to talk about some things you can buy because hey, maybe you just don't have time. So here we go:

Digital Photo Frame- these are a great family gift, we all know how sentimental parents can be, make it extra special and set it up for them ( we can't all be tech savvy). This one is from Best Buy, but they are everywhere

So I can't lie the Photo Frame market is pretty saturated, so maybe your parents already have one, a more original gift is a dance class, something romantic like salsa. Go to your local dance studio and buy a private session or maybe pay for some group lessons. This is a kinda cute idea and very romantic (if your parents are into that sorta thing) also consider his and her spa packages or a night in a nice hotel.

For the Kiddies: 
So this really depends on the ages of the kids that your shopping for but I'll try to do some stuff for each age group

This is a baby Mac.

Educational: If your into educational toys like myself ( I'm not sure if it actually works, but it makes me feel just a little better about buying a bunch of toys I know will end up at Goodwill in a year) then you can't go wrong with LeapFrog. Seriously, these toys are amazing, they can do so many cool things, basically Leapfrog goes to Best Buy, looks at all the grown-up toys and makes a mini version with Disney characters.
Just like the stuff at Best Buy however, it's pretty pricey. This bad-boy will cost you $50, not including all the games you have to buy.
Crafty: These are the gifts I like best, gifts that are a fun activity for you and your child/grandkid or whoever you know to do together.

Now we can all be Martha (sans jail).

The first stop for these gifts is Micheal's, they have all these amazing kits of things to do and make and they are all pretty cheap. One of the coolest things I've seen around is this lovely little kit from Martha Stewart. I bought mine at Macy's and it was $19.99   

Other: I cringe to say it but if you want a gift they'll love, video games are usually pretty solid. Then again if you'd like to be out of the box then you can always go with a classic board game ( what happened to the board game? they are so underrated!)
Fool proof gift: Find out their favorite character or TV show and buy something with that person on it--Viola! They are sure to love it. But for goodness sakes if they say Hannah Montana don't do it!


For Everyone Else:
Gift Cards! Okay, I know it sounds lame. But I don't mean just a gift card to McDonald's. Get them a gift card to somewhere they really love. A new couple might like on for World Market or Bed Bath and Beyond. Trendsetters might like Modcloth.com or H&M or Saks. Think of places like Starbucks, a local vineyard, Williams-Sonoma. Up the ante by getting it to somewhere unique.

Dee Luvs: Morphsuits!

A spandex body suit-- What more could you ask for?

So basically this all started when I was at our local 3-on-3 basketball tournament. There was this team dressed in what appeared to be mesh body suits covering them from head to toe. Obviously my first reaction was to ask where I could buy one. The boy just shrugged and said he got it for Christmas--sidebar, he has the best parents ever!
I can't quite explain why I love these bizarre bodysuits so much. But I'm sure after looking at this photo you'll agree with me:

Soapboxx: Sugar Plum Fairy Ballerina

Oh my god, leave this woman alone!

What are little girls going to think when they see this woman and hear that shes supposed to be fat?
This is exactly what's wrong with people these days, you see a ballerina who weights more than 82 1/2lbs and everyone goes crazy! I mean look at this video! Go on, look!

Dee Says: Last Minute Homemade Christmas Gifts!

 So here I'm going to give you guys some last minute Christmas gifts--- Of the homemade variety of course!

All of these gifts take about a day to complete, of course they can take longer depending on how much time you have to dedicate to it. These are my fool-proof gifts, when I realize I've forgotten someone I crank out one of these gifts and everyone is happy!

Idea #1-- How to make a no-sew blanket

Projected Cost: about $15

Projected Time: less than one hour

You Need:

2 yards of fleece in one pattern/color

2 yards of fleece in another matching patter/color ( 4 yards of fabric total)

scissors

What To Do:

• lay the fabrics on top of each other--you'll need alot of space so use a large table or the floor
• when the fabrics match up exactly, cut a four inch square out of each corner
• then cut down about 7 inches every two inches, creating little blocks
• create them all the way across
• now, tie the layers together...
• ...and Voila! Instant blanket!

I like to use a solid color on the bottom and a pattern on the top

Idea #2-- How to do a chunky, quick scarf
Projected Cost: about $15 dollars, depending on the yarn and what you already have
Projected Time: about four hours of solid knitting

You Need:

2 Skiens of yarn ( size chunky or extra thick)

size 35 US or bigger needles

What To Do:

• cast on about 10 to 15 stitches
• use up both skiens....
• ...and Ta-Da! A scarf! Easy right?

Idea #3-- Cozy Body Pillow
Projected Cost: about $10

Projected Time: about 30 minutes

You Need:

A sewing machine

5 yards of fabric

3 bags (or one 5lb box) of polyesther fiber-fill

What To Do:

• fold the fabric length-wise
• the pillow should be about as tall as your shoulders standing up
• sew all the way around leaving about a foot of space
• stuff the pillow to your desired fluffy-ness
• hand sew or machine sew the opening
• again instant gift!

Dee Hates: Technology!

First off, let me just say I'm not retarded. I know that you don't have to shout because its long distance and I don't say "the twitter" or think that anyone uses Myspace anymore. In fact, I find myself pretty tech-savvy. I'm no Bill Gates, but I can operate a computer, smartphone, i(insert over-priced gadget here), and work cable and HD. So maybe it's not that I hate technology, I just hate it when all these new gadgets come with one million strings attached. I'll give you an example:
 As ya'll know I got my parents a Blu-ray for Christmas. This all started with Netflix.
So I see the commercial, "stream movies instantly to your TV" Okay good enough. I accept.---oh wait btw you need a Blu-ray.
Fine. I'll buy this lovely one for 59.99---oh and by Blu-ray we mean a fancy expensive one with WiFi buit in
Fine. I'll take this one for 89.99---btw do you have a HDMI cord?
Fine. I'll buy this one for 10.99---also, you need to have a router so the internet signal is all over your house
FINE! TAKE ALL THE MONEY I HAVE!!!
I mean WTH. All I wanted to do was watch Arrested Development! These techy boys make it seem so simple when really there are one million things you have to have/do/buy to make their little gadgets work.
I mean when you look at all the little catches and conditions technology hasn't come that far.

Dee Says: Black Friday = Success!

I knew getting up at two would be worth it.

  So as you all know I just love Black Friday (see other post). Its probably one of my favorite times of the year. It means that Christmas is coming, and its something me and all my sisters bond over. This year we started our quest at Best Buy. Usually we go to Target first, but this year I was in the market for a Blu Ray so we started there. The lines were CRAZYY! I mean some of the longest I've seen in years, clearly people are more willing to spend...maybe the recession really is over? My goal is always to get as many people taken care of as possible and maybe pick up a few things for myself. I definitely accomplished this, almost everyone on my list was taken care of. Overall this year was pretty great, I didn't get in any fights though :( Anyway, I'm going to share with you all the things I bought.

Family Gift

So usually what I do for gifts is get my Mom and Dad one joint present, and get my Mom a present on her own (I'm not being mean, he just doesn't like gifts). This year I bought them the Blu Ray above. Its an Insignia and I'm not sure if that's a good brand or not so maybe you guys can let me know if I made a good choice. It seems cool enough and it streams Netflix so that's really all that matters. The Blu Ray was $89.99 at Best Buy and a really good deal (or so I'm told).

Mom's Gift

A little about my Mom, she's a complete nerd and is really into second chance at love kinda movies, so I bought her Last Chance Harvey. The film is really good and cute and Emma Thomson is in it so what more could you ask for. She also has an unhealthy obsession with Hugh Jackman (though don't we all). So I bought her Australia. Its directed by Baz Luhrman or something, the guy who did Romeo and Juliet so it must be good. (right? leave your comments on the films below). Both films were $7.99 at Borders, also if you haven't been to Borders, check it out, they have some really cool stuff. 

So cute.

So that takes care of the 'rents. Every year I have this epic battle about what I'm going to get my sister. This year an idea came to me in a dream (literally). I'm not going to say what it is because she might read this, but its fantastic (I hope). My other sister is super easy every year. On Friday I found this cute wine glass at Macy's that I know she'll just love. The company is Lolita and they make all these cool designs on martini glasses and such by hand. I got this one for $24.99 Check it out they have some really cool ones. 

Friend #2

So usually how I do thing is I get something for each of my sisters, Grandma, Friends, Mom and Dad and then everyone else gets different versions of the same homemade gift. So last year everyone got pillows with fabric from their favorite sports teams, the year before I knitted everyone scarves. So this year I decided to make everyone candles, which will be quick, easy and cheap. (I do a lot of crafts, if you'd like posts on how to do these things or more craft ideas comment below).

I really only have three friends that I worry about gifts for.

If you haven't played these little Scene it? games you really should. They are perfect for family or friend gatherings. There are a million versions out there. Comedy, Drama, RomCom, Harry Potter, Disney, Twilight, TCM--basically anything you can think of. Several TV shows also have a version. The one I bought was $29.99, a little steep, but I know my friend will love it. Slumdog Millionaire and 17 Again were $3.99 each at Best Buy.
Friend #3 remains gift-less at this point until I find some inspiration.

For the little baker/designer

My eight year old cousin also gets a special gift. I love this thing because it involves very little mess and allows her to be creative instead of just buying her a video game. This is a little cookie making kit. The cookies are shaped like dresses and shoes and that sort of thing. The great part is if you have a budding fashionista (like me) it allows them to decorate the cookies however. It comes with little stamps too so they can put little patterns on them. So adorable and only $19.99 at Target.

So everyone is covered except my Grandma. I really was stressed about this one because the woman is so bored all day she shops like crazy and has everything. So this is an idea for Grandparents. What I decided to do was gather all the families photos and make a DVD slide show/movie type thing for her to watch. This is great because Grandparents can be very sentimental and always have a million pictures of everything. This way she doesn't have to go through her hundreds of photo albums, she can just watch the DVD. All you have to do is get all the pictures together and go to a store with a photo kiosk ( Wal-Mart, Walgreens, ect.). If your don't want to buy the DVD there (at Wal-Mart it's $3.99) you can bring one. They have a scanner and everything and you just hit the photo-show or slide show option. You scan all your pictures and Viola! Its cheap and is better than just buying something.
